~Sweet~

So today was a sweeeet scrapbooking day. I am in the process of making a digital scrapbook for Meg to show at her school open house. After looking at a few pages, she liked it sooooo much that she wants to give a copy to all of the kids in her class. Sweet~! Then I got an email from a scrapbooking website telling me that one of my layouts is going to be an upcoming featured layout. Sweet~! And sitting on my doorstep was the latest edition of Scrapbooking & Beyond Magazine which just happened to select two of my layouts for publication. Sweet~! And the final sweet suprise...Emma Moore of Eyelet's Scraps Design selected me to be part of her Creative Ensemble. Sweet~! I hope YOUR day is full of sweet sweet suprises and blessings~! =)

~Service~

In honor of Memorial Day I thought I'd post this layout about my dad. The charcoal drawing is by my dad’s bunkmate. It shows a typical day aboard their ship. The date, 7/2/45, is significant because it is my dad’s birthday. It’s kind of nice to know that even in the midst of war, small heartfelt gestures like remembering a friend’s birthday, did occur. I have included one of my dad’s navy photographs so you can see that he drew a very good likeness~
Dad enlisted in the military after the bombing of Pearl Harbor. He became a Signalman in the navy and was stationed in the Pacific throughout the rest of the war. Most of his memories of his time in the service, he kept to himself. Whenever I asked him for some details, he always said ~that was all in the past and we need to be positive and focus on now~ I try to emulate his positive outlook on life but more importantly I try to remember just how much of his life he sacrificed so that I could enjoy the freedoms that I have today. Thanks Dad~

~Engaged~!~

Just got off the phone with Jim and he and Cassie are now officially engaged I am soooooooooooo excited~!!!!! They were visiting the Phoenix zoo today and Cassie really likes Flamingos. He told her wanted to get a picture of both of them standing in front of the flamingos...so he set up his camera and then walked over next to her... she is standing there smiling at the camera and nothing is happening and she turns to him to tell him this and he is down on one knee to propose...He was videotaping the whole thing~!!! who knew my son was such a romantic =) She is such a sweetie and such an added blessing to his life...I am sooooooo happy for them both~!

~Home~

I made this layout for Meg & Jeff in honor of their new home. I used a cool photo technique that blends the picture of their new house into the background paper...ooooooooh...ahhhhh =) But I am soooo happy for them and their new abode. It actually reminds me of our first house. But it has all the cute Meg & Jeff touches in it like all the Beatles.. Muppets... snowglobes... turtles...etc. So I pray they have a wonderful life in their new home~!

I made this layout for a stamping challenge for NSD. The perfectionist in me got really frustrated cause I the stamps did not line up perfectly~! I even thought of redoing it as a digital page. But everyone who gave it a review loved the quirkiness of it. And I got to thinking...well God loves me with all my quirkiness and imperfections so obviously perfection is not what it's cracked up to be =) So I hope you have a perfectly imperfect day enjoying all of God's blessings~

For those of you not into the scrapbooking world...today is National Scrapbooking Day. woohoo~!!! Lots of fun challenges and inspirations to keep me motivated to scrap my little heart out~! So I made this layout in honor of my sweetie who went and did all the grocery shopping so I could spend more time creating and enjoying this once a year event. So Happy National Scrapbooking Day and remember...kids grow up fast so start scrapbooking now~! =)
